A DIFFERENT TYPE OF “THRILLER”
CBS IS MAKING AN ANIMATED HALLOWEEN SHORT INSPIRED BY MICHAEL JACKSON
Despite being dead, the legend of Michael Jackson lives on. The album Scream was recently released after a 3D remake of iconic video “Thriller” debuted last month. Since the king of pop has been brought back through film and music the next medium is TV. CBS apparently has the answer for that.
The first trailer for “Michael Jackson’s Halloween” dropped and it’s not for his older fans. While the trailer does include some musical pieces (all from his legendary discography) and Jackson’s signature dance moves, the piece is clearly geared for children.
The trailer shows off a wicked witch (voiced by Lucy Liu) who must be stopped by a boy and girl (brother/sister?) Vincent and Victoria (hopefully a tribute to Vincent Price) inside a spooky hotel (777 Jackson street). Along the way they will run into various creatures and monsters while somehow meeting the great one himself. CBS star Jim Parsons will play a dancing pumpkin man (with Jackson’s signature dance moves) and Brad Garrett plays a talking chimp (a reference to Bubbles).
Not much is really known about the short except its premiere date. It may be fun for Jackson’s older fans but it may also be a way to introduce children to his music. “Michael Jackson’s Halloween” airs October 27th at 8 PM. Of course on CBS.
