ARE RAIDOU, NYOTENGU AND PHASE 4 “DEAD OR ALIVE”?

NEW TRAILERS AND SCREENSHOT REVEAL THREE NEW CHARACTERS

Dead or Alive 6 recently received a release date delay, so in order to make up for that, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja released details on the game’s fighting mechanics. While demonstrations of mechanics can be dry, two new characters were added to the roster. Joining the new characters NiCO and Diego is the mysterious PHASE 4.

Fans of the franchise will remember that DOATEC was using the titular Dead or Alive Tournament to gather data on the world’s best fighters. This data would then lead to the creation of Alpha-152 (introduced in the franchise’s fifth installment). Players who order the deluxe set for the game will only have access to PHASE 4. Alpha-152 is a clone of Kasumi, with PHASE 4 considered a better version of Alpha-152. Despite being a clone of Kasumi, PHASE 4 fights with elements of Ayane as well.

The other two characters are veterans of the series being Nyotengu and Raidou. Nyotengu first appeared in Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate Arcade. While her story is mostly a mystery, she has had helpful interactions with some of the roster’s main characters; like Ryu Hayabusa and Honoka. Despite her looks, she is a type of demon called tengu and her fighting style is similar to that of Devil Jin from Tekken. Raidou was the final boss of the first Dead or Alive game. He is the biological father of Ayane and sworn enemy of Hayate and Kasumi. He was eventually killed off only to be revived as a cyborg for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round. Since Dead or Alive 6 is a direct continuation of the franchise, Raidou has been canonically confirmed to appear in Dead or Alive 6. Even when alive, his fighting style revolved around copying his enemy’s moves. As a cyborg that mechanic has been perfected for him.

No matter what version of the game you get, Nyotengu will be available as a pre-order bonus and it seems that Raidou will be a part of the main roster on the game’s release date.

Dead or Alive 6 has been pushed back to release on March 1, 2019. Adding the new characters makes the roster look like this:
