“AS DAYS GO BY” URKEL NEEDS A NEW HOME
THE WINSLOW HOUSE FROM “FAMILY MATTERS” APPROVED FOR DEMOLITION
Growing up in the 90’s everyone may have wanted to live in the Bel-Air mansion owned by Uncle Phil but the Winslow home always felt more inviting to me. While the show was filmed in a Los Angeles studio, the home at 1516 W. Wrightwood in Lincoln Park was seen during the intro and served as B-roll for exterior shots.
Chicago’s city government approved a permit Tuesday to demolish the one family two-story house proposed by the owners. The owners plan to build a three-story residence due to the original house being unable to renovate because of its age.
The honors will honor the legacy of the original home by hanging pictures of the old house and the “Family Matters” cast in the front hallway of the new building. Luckily the house will be immortalized in the intro:
