“ASH VS. EVIL DEAD” RETURNS…SORT OF
BRUCE CAMPBELL TO REPRISE ROLE IN UPCOMING VIDEO GAME
Cult-classics are like a bad habit, they keep returning no matter how many times they get suppressed; the thing is though, many cult-classics are hits and don’t get continued unless a larger audience picks it up. This is exactly the case of Ash vs. Evil Dead led by Bruce Campbell.
After successfully portraying Ash in the film trilogy that started in 1987, it was at the 2016 New York Comic-Con that TV network Starz announced it would reboot the franchise as a television show. That show lasted three seasons until getting cancelled this past April. Despite this, Bruce Campbell acknowledged that there are still contractual obligations for Ash to appear in some sort of medium, regardless of who plays Ash.
While most details are unknown, even the name, a video game is currently in development and will prominently feature Ash. When asked about being fully retired from playing Ash, Campbell stated:
“I have previous obligations I have to fulfill. They are doing a video game. A whole immersive kind of dealio. I’ll be Ash for that, because I wouldn’t want someone else’s voice hamming it up.”
So despite Ash Vs. Evil Dead not continuing on, fans will still get to see (or hear) Bruce Campbell in his iconic role.
