BILL AND TED WILL “FACE THE MUSIC”
BILL AND TED WILL RETURN IN THE SUMMER OF 2020
Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves were always open to the idea of a third film in the Bill and Ted franchise. Given that the films feature time travel, the amount of time in between the films shouldn’t be an issue.
In a short vlog style video, Winter and Reeves finally announced that the third film- Bill and Ted Face the Music is in full production. They even dropped a release date of next summer! Production will start this summer with filming taking place in New Orleans. The script was created by the original franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Soloman. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) will direct.
The official press release is as follows:
“Following 1989’s ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ and 1991’s ‘Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey‘, the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill’ S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted’ Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.”
Yes, the last film was in 1991 and the franchise as a whole still holds up today; except for the realization that George Carlin is no longer with us. Reeves and Winter have stated that if a third film was made, it will include a fitting tribute to Carlin. The film is slated for August 2020.
