“BLAZBLUE” FILLS OUT ITS ROSTER

LAST TRAILER OF 2017 ROUNDS OUT(?) BLAZBLUE SIDE OF BLAZBLUE CROSS TAG BATTLE

Supposedly the last trailer of 2017 for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle has been released and it flushes out more of the BlazBlue roster with a surprising four characters (the most revealed in a trailer). Now joining their BlazBlue brethren are Iron Tager, Makoto Nanaya, Nu (Number 13) and Es.

It should be noted that Es is already a crossover character in the BlazBlue franchise. She was the main character in the spin-off series: Xblaze Code: Embryo (a prequel to the main series) and became prominent when added to the latest installment of the franchise: BlazBlue: Central Fiction.

It is more evident that the BlazBlue franchise will be the host universe in this game (the series is known for multiple timelines/universes and time loops) so it would make sense to introduce its side of the roster first, however, four characters in one trailer is somewhat disappointing to see. Fans still don’t know the total amount of characters that will be in the game and with more BlazBlue characters added, the rosters of the other franchises are still in question.

The game should have equal representation across all four franchises but with BlazBlue now having 10 characters and possibly more, (when factoring the other three franchises in) a minimum of 40 characters could be available in the game when it’s released. BlazBlue also has at least 10 more characters that are involved in it’s plot, which appears to be the theme behind the roster additions (add as many characters related to the plots of the games).

The updated roster is below:

  1. Ragna the Bloodegde (BlazBlue)

  2. Jin Kisaragi (BlazBlue)

  3. Rachel Alucard (BlazBlue)

  4. Hazama (BlazBlue)

  5. Noel Vermillion (BlazBlue)

  6. Azrael (BlazBlue)

  7. Iron Tager (BlazBlue)

  8. Makoto Nanaya (BlazBlue)

  9. Nu-Number 13 (BlazBlue)

  10. Es (BlazBlue)

  11. Hyde (Under-Night)

  12. Linne (Under-Night)

  13. Waldstein (Under-Night)

  14. Gourdeau (Under-Night)

  15. Yu Narukami (Persona 4)

  16. Yosuke Hanamura (Persona 4)

  17. Chie Satonaka (Persona 4)

  18. Yukiko Amagi (Persona 4)

  19. Ruby Rose (RWBY)

  20. Weiss Schnee (RWBY)

The scoreboard shows 10 representatives for BlazBlue with Persona 4 and Under-Night both having four. RWBY is in desperate need of reveals with the franchise only having two characters (the main plot involves four characters so at least two more representatives are coming).

The game is slated for early 2018 and this trailer specifically states: “More excitements await. See you in early 2018!” Either a storm of new trailers will be dropping in January or the game may just release with a ton of surprises for fans.

The game will drop for PS4, Nintendo Switch and Steam. Check out the trailer below:
