“DIE HARD 6” HAS AN OFFICIAL NAME

NEWEST FILM IN THE FRANCHISE WON’T BE NAMED DIE HARD

Die Hard is the latest film franchise to now be considered a cult-classic. What was once an actual hard-hitting, action packed iconic film is now a decently developed but still hard-hitting showcase of milking Bruce Willis of all he’s got as John McLane. The sixth entry in the franchise was tentatively called Die Hard: Year One, however, when Len Wiseman turned in his completed script it was simply titled McLane.

The title isn’t the only thing that’s changed, as the focus of this new film is different as well. McLane will be set in 1979 and star Bruce Willis as John McLane. The film will shift back and forth between John McLane from 1979 and the present day John Mclane; revealing exactly how McLane (in producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s words) “became a die hard kind of guy”.

While it’s not known if there’s a central antagonist in the film, there might not be any room for one when Lorenzo di Bonaventura further described the film:

“I don’t know how you do ‘Die Hard’ without Bruce. The idea that he’s not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version.”

If we had to guess, McLane will obviously focus on John McLane, but probably by switching back and forth using flashbacks and montages. In order to cope with that level of exposition, there has to be an insane amount of action or higher stakes involved than any of the previous films could ever offer.

“Yippie ki yay Motherfucker!”
