EA PLAY AT E3
EA’S E3 2019 ANNOUNCEMENTS
Electronic Arts pulled a Sony and Nintendo by revealing trailers and gameplay footage instead of a “traditional” press conference. Here’s what we can expect:
FIFA 20
It’s not EA if they don’t have sports games so the obligatory FIFA franchise was showcased. Besides updates to rosters and gameplay maneuvers, the FIFA Street franchise will return in the form of Volta mode and female players can be created now. Also, a new penalty kick system is introduced with players having control over the ball’s spin by manipulating the right analog stick. No reveal date yet.
MADDEN NFL 2020
Besides NBA 2K, MADDEN is probably the most popular sports game in the U.S., so it made sense it would be revealed here. The greatest addition this year is real-time playbook additions. If a team adds a new play during the upcoming season, it will be added to the game (possibly as a patch). There’s a new Superstar Journey hosted by Patrick Mahomes II. No reveal date yet.
BATTLEFIELD 5
Battlefield 5 got new maps in the form of Al Sondan and Marita along with Operation Underground and the announcement of Chapter V; a recreation of the Iwo Jima conflict and that means new weapons and vehicles. No reveal date yet.
THE SIMS 4 ISLAND LIFE
The newest addition to The Sims 4 is somewhat of a DLC. Basically, your Sims can live on a tropical island with a volcano on it. The island is susceptible to pollution and overcrowding, so eco-friendly themes are introduced into the game. And you can make friends with dolphins if you want. Plus, the Sims can finally swim in an open ocean. That will launch on console July 16th and PC July 21st.
APEX LEGENDS
Apex Legends actually gets a new round of patches with a brand new weapon called the L-STAR and a new character called Wattson. SHe was even introduced in an animated short.

Wattson is an electrical engineer so she mostly plays a support role. There’s no release date yet.
STAR WARS JEDI: FALLEN ORDER
The first single player Star Wars game to come out in who knows how long was finally revealed; and with actual gameplay as well. An in-depth 15 minute video of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order kicked off EA’s conference. You play as Cal Kestis, a Jedi in-training equipped with a blue light saber and the droid BD-1 on your back. You’re part of a resistance shortly after Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine create the Empire. There’s no release date yet.
