IS THE CANDYMAN READY FOR JORDAN PEELE?

GET OUT DIRECTOR COULD DIRECT CANDYMAN REBOOT

Candyman is actually one of the better written horror film  franchises of all time, and the film first debuted in 1992. The rights for the franchise have been shifting around over the years, but the director of the first film, Bernard Rose has always wanted a true sequel (4th film) to be released for the franchise.

Recently, Jordan Peele was revealed to be in talks of producing another film for the franchise. Peele will play some role in the production under his MonkeyPaw Productions label, however, Peele may not direct the film. He’s made it perfectly clear that he wants to create original content and his work for Get Out and BlacKkKlansman speak for themselves. On top of that, Peele is also involved in a Twilight Zone reboot and he’s directing Us, another racially charged thriller. If there were a film franchise Peele should reboot though, it has to be Candyman. The film practically oozes the social constructs of today’s society that made the Candyman such an iconic slasher in the first place.

Do you think Peele should direct a reboot 20 years after the film’s debut?
