KENSHIN AND SHISHIO JUMP INTO THE FIGHT
RURONI KENSHIN FRANCHISE ENTERS THE JUMP FORCE ROSTER
The Shonen Jump crossover fighting game Jump Force will mark the publication’s 50th anniversary next year. There have already been 25(?) characters announced and the game won’t release for a few more months.
The newest franchise to be represented is Ruroni Kenshin, in the form of titular Kenshin Himura and his greatest foe, Shishio Makota. Kenshin was an infamous samurai who slaughtered all in his path during the Meiji era of Japan’s history. Kenshin was literally named the “Manslayer”. The manga and anime follow him trying to repent for his actions by living a life of peace and service while purposefully using a sword that keeps its blade towards the user’s body. Due to this restriction, Kenshin has perfected his speed when fighting and using various incapacitating moves such as sonic booms from his sword that cause temporary deafness.
Shishio was the main antagonist of the Kyoto arc in the series. He is the head of an anti-government faction called the Juppongatana. He fights using his sword that is rubbed in oil and blood. The friction of his strikes allows him to set his sword ablaze and set opponents on fire.
Along with the actual trailer, Jump magazine and gameplay screenshots also revealed two more characters from the Dragon Ball Z franchise: Piccolo and Perfect Cell.
Jump Force will release on February 15th! With the addition of these two characters the roster is as follows:
