LET’S GO TO STUDIO GHIBLI LAND
HAYAO MIYAZAKI’S PRODUCTION STUDIO GETS ITS OWN THEME PARK
Japan is no stranger to differently styled theme parks and now one of the most beloved companies in Japanese history will be celebrated as a theme park come 2022. Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli will have its own dedicated theme park in Aichi Commemorative Park.
Located near Nagoya (central Japan), the Ghibli park will be constructed within the 460 acres that make up the Aichi Commemorative Park. On opening day, the park will contain five theme-based areas; all based on Studio Ghibli films. The only films confirmed so far are Princess Mononoke and Howl’s Moving Castle. After the first year, more attractions and themes will be added.
Hayao Miyazaki is not actually involved in the construction of the park, in fact his only son Goro Miyazaki, is heading the project. Although, in true Hayao Miyazaki fashion, anything going into the park will have to pass the legendary filmmaker’s standards.
The park is slated to open in the fall of 2022 and has yet to receive an official name.
