MEET THE NEW “MAN” IN BLACK
THOR: RAGNAROK STARS REUNITE FOR MEN IN BLACK SPIN-OFF FILM
It’s now official that Chris Hemsworth will star in the untitled Men In Black spin-off film coming in 2019. Joining him will be his Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson.
The upcoming film is being marketed as less of a reboot and more of an expansion to the universe, similar to Jurassic World. Essentially new characters will be introduced into a world that already has decent depth to it. Another example would be the Fantastic Beast franchise (although that acts as more of a prequel).
The untitled film will be set in London and star Hemsworth as the “white male lead” but also an “older male” and a “black woman”. With Tessa Thompson now on board, it looks like two of those roles have been cemented. Thompson’s Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok was a great contrast to Thor’s bro-like attitude and FOMO syndrome. It turns out that chemistry stemmed from the real actors on set, rather than being packaged with the characters.
That chemistry will be live and well and hopefully be featured more once this film is wrapped. It will be directed by F. Gary Gray, who also did Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious. Also appearing from the MCU will be the screenwriters of Iron Man, Matt Holloway and Art Marcum. Despite not having a film, the film is still slated to premiere June 14, 2019.
