NETFLIX DIDN’T WRITE ITS NAME IN THE “DEATH NOTE”

NETFLIX’S ADAPTATION OF DEATH NOTE GETS A SEQUEL

For some reason, Netflix decided to make a live-action adaptation of masterpiece anime Death Note. Let’s just say that live-action versions of anime have a long way to go. Well Netflix is thinking it might be able to redeem itself because it gave the greenlight for a live-action sequel.

The sequel will follow a script written by Greg Russo, rather than the trio of Charles Parlapanides, Vlas Parlapanides and Jeremy Slater. And that’s all that was announced. The first film was geared for American audiences but received major criticism due to it not being a faithful adaptation. Strangely enough, director Adam Winguard purposely chose to make the property more American and was praised for his direction of the film.

It’s not yet known if Winguard will direct the second film, but considering Light Turner (Nat Wolff) survived the first film, Wolff should be set to star in the sequel. If you have given up on Americanized anime adaptations, there are always the live-action Japanese films.
