NOOB SAIBOT WILL FINISH YOU!

NOOB SAIBOT TO RETURN IN MORTAL KOMBAT 11

Since NetherRealm Studios skipped a week of Kombat Kast to reveal the story trailer for Mortal Kombat 11, it seems they are making up for it this week. Not only did we get a Kombat Kast episode starring Kotal Khan and Jacqui Briggs, but today we got the reveal of a fan favorite in Noob Saibot.

Noob fights using a shadow clone, so he’s able to combo quick from almost any move. The clone can also be used to play keep away for Noob to attack with his hook, or to break opposing combos completely. He’s a very disruptive character, which works perfect given his origin. The name “Noob Saibot” is actually the combination of the creators’ last names spelled backwards. “Noob” is “Boon” (Ed Boon) spelled backwards, while “Saibot” is “Tobias” (John Tobias) spelled backwards. While originally being a faceless character with no past, Saibot was eventually revealed as the original Sub-Zero who was killed by Scorpion. Turns out the character of Sub-Zero is more like a superhero, where people succeed the previous version. Kotal Khan returns from Mortal Kombat X with a revamped moveset. He resembles more of a brawler than before and in his breakdown video, it was revealed that he can equip totems or transform into a jaguar. The totems can be stacked and have various uses; one totem increases his damage output, while another allows him to heal based on damage dealt. Khan has a total of four totems, but only two can be used in a fight. His jaguar form is also exclusive to a different loadout, further stressing the strategic function of customization among the fighters. Kotal’s Sunbeams return and he now has a sword that can saw his opponents in half too.

Along with Kotal Khan’s reveal, we learned where he was during the early versions of the franchise. Since the franchise has been building from a reboot, Kotal’s whereabouts were considered a plot hole in the overall story.

He wasn’t an official reveal from a Kombat Kast episode, but Noob Saibot joins Jacqui Briggs, Kotal Khan, Cassie Cage, Johnny Cage, Kano, Jade, Kabal and D’Vorah as returning members of the official release roster.

Mortal Kombat 11 launches April 23rd. Here’s the updated roster:
