“PRISON BREAK” IS A MANGA NOW
FOX HIT SHOW GETS OFFICIAL MANGA ADAPTATION
Usually, manga and anime are adaptations of each other and they are almost always exclusively Japanese. In this case, a Western property will head to Japanese shores as the early 2000’s FOX show Prison Break gets an official manga adaptation.
Nothing about the original plot will change with Hikosuke Soyama in charge of the adaptation. Apparently, the remnants of 20th Century Fox are overseeing this production. After the Disney buyout, if FOX can make money off old properties than why not; even if it is a random move.
In case you don’t know about Prison Break here’s the synopsis:
“The show tells the story of Michael, a man who is determined to save his older brother Lincoln from prison after being framed for murder. Armed with a plan, Michael enters the prison and tries to break out his brother from the inside.”
Prison Break was actually a critical success for FOX starting in 2004 and running until 2009 with a 5th “revival” season already produced in 2017 and a 6th season in the works. It’s interesting to see if the manga includes the 5th revival season and if the 6th season will get adapted as well.
I might pick this up.
