RAMBO IS BACK…FOR NOW
FIRST TRAILER FOR RAMBO: LAST BLOOD
Nobody really asked for another Rambo film, but we’re getting it anyway. Although, Rambo: Last Blood looks amazing and looks to send the franchise off properly. The film’s style is similar to Logan, as a reluctant return to the battlefield for a last-stand scenario for John Rambo. It’s possible we could get another Rambo film, but the arc of John Rambo’s character sees him as too traumatized and weary to willingly enter a war as opposed to his earlier days of casually jumping into fights.
It’s this grizzled and weary Rambo we see in the beginning of the trailer, with Rambo owning a ranch and minding his own business. When the action picks up, it shows Rambo fighting a Mexican drug cartel and the action is intense. True to his nature, Rambo didn’t start the fight, but he will end it. Along with the trailer came the release date and now an official synopsis:
“John Rambo is deeply troubled and wrestling with PTSD as he picks up casual work wherever he can. When long-time family friend and estate manager Maria informs Rambo that her grand-daughter has gone missing after crossing into Mexico for a party, he sets off with her to find the youngster. What ensues is a violent descent into hell as Rambo uncovers a sex-trafficking ring. He teams up with a journalist whose half-sister has also been kidnapped and must deploy all his skills to save the girls and bring down a vicious crime lord.”
“I want them to know that death is coming, and there’s nothing they can do to stop it.” -John Rambo
Directed by Adrian Grunberg (Get the Gringo) and written by Stallone and Matt Cirulnick; the film will star Adriana Barraza, Paz Vega, Yvette Monreal, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Oscar Jaenadam, and Joaquín Cosío.
Rambo: Last Blood will premiere on September 20, 2019.
