SABRINA HAS FOUND HER HARVEY
ROSS LYNCH CAST AS HARVEY KINKLE IN SABRINA REBOOT
Thanks to the CW show Riverdale, a grittier, dark reboot of Sabrina: The Teenage Witch was announced. What was originally supposed to be a compliment to Riverdale ended up being ordered for two seasons by Netflix as a spin-off. When Netflix is serious about a show, everyone knows and that is evident with the newest addition to the cast.
The titular witch has been cast for a few months now, but her human love interest was still unknown; despite everyone else in Sabrina’s family having been cast. Now the role of Harvey Kinkle will go to Ross Lynch. Lynch is known (or not) for his role as Austin Moon on the Disney show Austin & Ally, however he did play a teenage Jeffery Dahmer in the film My Friend Dahmer. From Disney to serial killer is a huge leap but one that gives Lynch the range capable of living in the comic version of Sabrina.
Harvey’s synopsis goes as follows:
“The prince charming of a dark fairy tale, Harvey is the son of a coal miner, a dreamboat and a dreamer, completely unaware of the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart.”
The reboot is based on the novel The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in which a teenage Sabrina must learn to balance her humanity with her ever growing magic power as a witch. Adding to that are the world-ending pressures of being a teenage girl and the actual world-ending powers of Satan and Hell.
Lynch joins the cast of Miranda Otto (Aunt Zelda), Lucy Davis (Aunt Hilda), Michelle Gomez (Mary Wardell), Chance Perdomo (Ambrose) and of course Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina.
