SQUARE ENIX AT E3 2019

SQUARE ENIX MIGHT HAVE WON E3 2019

Square Enix had to deliver after years of anticipation and a lackluster 2018, so did they win E3 2019?

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE

After revealing it in 2015, Square Enix finally gives us an in-depth look at the game. The first boss, the play style, and of course Tifa. The game is packaged as two Blu-ray discs with part one being entirely in Midgar and part two being everything else. The play style is a mix of real-time hack and slash in an open environment along with a strategy turn-based course of action. You basically hack and slash (with the option to change characters mid-combo) until you build enough meter to choose different spells or special arts to perform. When you choose your spells and arts, time slows down long enough for you to actually browse through your various options. Final Fantasy VII Remake drops March 3, 2020.

FINAL FANTASY XIV

Most of Square Enix’s conference revolved around their RPG prowess with their next announcement being a full expansion for Final Fantasy XIV Online called “Shadowbringers”. Shadowbringers will release July 2, 2020.

KINGDOM HEARTS 3 RE:MIND DLC

The Kingdom Hearts timeline gets even more convoluted as the Re:Mind DLC gets introduced. But at least you get to play as Aqua for some reason. The DLC drops this Winter.

THE LAST REMNANT REMASTERED

Despite already being released on the PS4, this little known classic will be out for the Switch immediately. This game is underrated and gained some traction with the PS4 release. Hopefully, more players will get to see how great it is.

FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS: WAR OF THE VISIONS

The Final Fantasy mobile game will get a new entry in the series as Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions. The game is just in development.

MARVEL’S AVENGERS

Not all of the presentation was Final Fantasy or RPG, although a good majority of it was. The Marvel collaboration game Marvel’s Avengers, closed out the show. An original story that lets you play as all of the Avengers (except Hawkeye) and potential new heroes as DLC on a constant basis makes this one to look out for. The game drops May 15, 2020.

And after making the Final Fantasy VII Remake it was announced that there will be a Final Fantasy VIII Remake. How long will that take?
