THE BEAST VS. THE PHENOMENAL ONE
AJ STYLES TAKES MAHAL’S PLACE IN THE CHAMPION VS. CHAMPION MATCH AT SURVIVOR SERIES
Heading into the second Survivor Series pay-per-view since the WWE Draft, the company has decided to stay the course of brand warfare. While there are no draft or shakeup picks on the line (as they should be), Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live will compete for bragging rights (not the failed PPV concept).
The card is stacked with inter-promotional matches including champion vs. champion styled matches with the main event being RAW‘s WWE Universal Champion vs. SmackDown Live‘s WWE Heavyweight Champion. The current Universal Champion is Brock Lesnar, however, his opponent was slated to be Jinder Mahal. All of that changed this past week during a taping of SmackDown Live in Manchester, England where “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles defeated Mahal in the main event to be crowned the new WWE Champion.
The SmackDown match was some of Mahal’s best work to date and also became the first time a WWE title changed hands in Manchester. While Mahal still has a rematch clause that could see him in the match against Lesnar, chances are Styles will head into Survivor Series as champ. Styles serves as a bigger draw for WWE along with being a better match up against Lesnar. In most cases Lesnar vs. Styles can be considered a dream match.
Survivor Series airs live on Sunday November 19th at 8 pm.
Styles will either enter Suplex City or the Beast might not “want none”. Watch AJ Styles win the title below:
