THE FORSAKEN PIRATE RETURNS TO THE STAGE OF HISTORY
CERVANTES WILL RETURN FOR SOULCALIBUR VI
Tira’s announcement as DLC for SoulCalibur VI was a swerve. After Azwel was revealed to be a part of the main roster, fans of the franchise were given hope that the game would release with a few more characters available to choose from. After all, SoulCalibur VI will launch with 3 DLC characters and the future of other DLC remains to be seen; so with the franchise on its last legs, the more available fighters during release the better. Bandai Namco have now ensured that the franchise can survive by announcing the return of the series first antagonist and cult favorite Cervantes.
Cervantes returns with his twins swords and can now fully utilize his pistol during combos. While we have not seen his pistol fire at long distance, or outside of a combo, Cervantes likes to play dirty and will definitely find a way to use it. Despite being a brute, Cervantes can also spiral across the stage to charge at his opponents and is surprisingly quick when stabbing with his twin swords.
While Azwel is being considered as the main antagonist of this game, Cervantes was the main antagonist of Soul Edge. Since SoulCalibur VI will bridge the plots of Soul Edge and SoulCalibur together, Cervantes will most likely have a major role in this entry. Cervantes’ return marks the 19th character on the roster (20 with Tira as DLC) and the 16th returning franchise character in general. The game will drop October 19th and two more DLC spots are left to announce. Also, considering the game should probably have an even roster, our guess is that there may be one character left to announce (also a fan favorite).
The finalized current roster, now with DLC is as follows:
Azwel (new character)
