“THE PUNISHER” FINALLY GETS A RELEASE DATE
STREAM ALL EPISODES NOVEMBER 17TH
The Punisher trailer and release date was supposed to be revealed during the NYC Comic-Con, but was quickly pulled after the upsetting Las Vegas shooting massacre. We’re not sure Frank Castle would have approved that but we do know that he’d go after everyone responsible for letting that mad man run amok with automatic weapons.
After the events of the shooting, Marvel and Netflix still needed to deliver a release date, especially after disappointing fans who were expecting to see the news live at the convention. Well today’s the day as Netflix reveals that the show’s first season will drop November 17th.
With Punisher appearing in season two of Daredevil and being teased to be involved with The Defenders show, details about The Punisher have actually been kept close to Netfilx’s chest. Netflix went so far as to release a press statement stating the show’s premiere had been pushed back. Right after, however, an action-filled trailer with Metallica in the background was released with a blurred out premiere date.
The show stars John Bernthal (Shane from The Walking Dead) with Deborah Ann Woll from Daredevil and The Defenders returning as Karen Page. Girls star Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Westworld star Ben Barnes will also appear.
The second season of Daredevil acts as the anchor for the universe’s timeline with the actions of Jessica Jones leading directly into the events of Luke Cage. Luke Cage briefly overlaps with the story of season two of Daredevil (where Frank Castle is introduced). The finale of Luke Cage rolls right into Iron Fist, which actually continues its story in The Defenders. The Defenders and the second season of Daredevil and at about the same time as well. We already saw some of Frank Castle’s backstory in Daredevil so the question is: will The Punisher delve more into Castle’s origin or will it kick off with a connection to the other show? According to the trailer, it might just be the beginning.
