THE “RUGRATS” ARE BACK!
30 YEARS LATER AND THEY’RE STILL NOT GROWN UP
Nickelodeon’s parent company Viacom announced that nostalgia will return in a small package. The hit cartoon Rugrats will get an all new season with 26 episodes. On top of that, a brand new film using CGI is in the works as well. While fans don’t know when the new season of the show will air, the Rugrats film is slated to drop November 13, 2020.
The new season will see the return of the original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó, and Paul Germain as executive producers. The film will be written by David Goodman, who has worked on Family Guy and Futurama. And no the series All Grown Up does not count as canon for the franchise.
Nickelodeon seems keen on pumping out nostalgic returns. Their continuation of the Hey Arnold! story this past Thanksgiving performed excellently and actually provided substance with their nostalgia play. Let’s see if the same can be done with an even larger property like Rugrats.
Are you excited for this and if you have kids, will you share this with them?
