THE WHITE WOLF ENTERS THE STAGE OF HISTORY
GERALT OF THE WITCHER SERIES REVEALED AS GUEST CHARACTER
Despite the next chapter of the SoulCalibur story being a re-visitation of the past, the franchise’s plot lines actually create plausible reasons for guest characters to make appearances in certain games. An example of this was Ezio Auditore da Firenze being a playable character in SoulCalibur V, where the time period he lived and worked in (Renaissance Italy and shortly after) actually coincided with the time period of SoulCalibur V. Other scenarios involving distant lands are perfectly viable as well (see Link being a guest in the Gamecube port of SoulCalibur II).
Without the full natural roster of the game being revealed, Bandai Namco decided to showcase the newest guest to the SoulCalibur franchise: the “White Wolf” Geralt of Rivia.
Similar to Link, Geralt actualy fits in with the style of fighting that SoulCalibur is known for with characters using various weapons and sometimes switching up their style based on that weapon. Ivy’s weapon can switch between a whip and a sword, while people with dual wielding weapon styles can attack with one or both weapons (just watch Cervantes fight). Link could also use his bombs to create space while he had his sword.
Geralt seems to benefit from having multiple methods of attack. He does have both of his swords, however, it seems his secondary weapon will be magic. In the trailer revealing his gameplay, Geralt is seen using his Igni fire spell and Aard knock back spell. He may have at least two more spells available to use in combos or he could potentially drink potions.
Geralt also comes with his own stage in the game, Kaer Morhen’s training fields.
With the addition of Geralt the current roster is as follows:
Geralt (guest character)
Ivy
Zasalamel
Kilik
Xianghua
Nightmare
Groh (new character)
Sophitia
Mitsurugi
