WELCOME BACK TO “ATLANTA”
GLOVER RETURNS TO ATLANTA FROM A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY
Donald Glover’s been on a roll as of late and has been able to separate himself from his Childish Gambino persona. Gambino’s single “Redbone” did become a top track in 2017 but Glover has also appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming and finished wrapping up his role as Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story. He’s even going to play the role of Adult Simba in the live-action Lion King remake in 2019.
Before we see him in any of those roles though, we will see him back on the streets of Atlanta. The first season of his hit show (written and produced by him) premiered in 2016 and will return nearly two years after the premiere.
Besides returning after nearly two years, the show will get a title change as well. Atlanta now becomes Atlanta: Robbin’ Season. We have no idea why the title has changed although it could just be a part of Glover’s style; the same style that allowed the show to become a success in the first place.
Besides Glover gaining success through the show, his co-stars scored some big projects as well. Zazie Beetz (Van) will be in Deadpool 2 and Brian Tyree Henry (Paper Boi) landed a role in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. At least they made us wait for a good reason.
Atlanta: Robbin’ Season premieres Thursday, March 1st at 10 PM on FX.
